Anisa's father the Sultan has an arranged marriage for this daughter to his friends son. This liason has been fortified since Anisa was 2 years old. The children met for 5 weeks every summer including the one past. Now she has been reported missing from her school, with in a month she is to be married. Her father is very concearned. Which is good. He could have been furious. Lucky for her; he isn't. He carries alot of weight.

He suspects she is in danger. He fears terrism.

Riccardo suspects teenage rebellion, but is not ruling out The Sultan's concerns. It is very possible that she has been kidnapped. But he is hopeful that this will not be the case. The odds of anyone surviving a kidnapping a 8%. How ever, if her honour is in doubt, the custom's allow the father to have her killed.

Riccardo was almost sure that The Sultan was not blind to the ways of the west. He hoped Anisa would be safe once found. It was possible (a slim chance) that she was safer lost. Anisa was an interesting and delightful girl. He had met her briefly on the Sultan's motor yacht.

Anisa and her fiance got along well together. He had protected her each time they met, from what ever problem she had found herself in. She was always in some sort of trouble. Normally it had just been the neighbourhood kids chasing her. She liked going to Aswan's place in the summer. His family were the normal wealthy land owning type Europeans. Her Dad must have run out of Arabian families, or maybe he wanted to strengthen his ties to the west. That was normal for him, but the practice was not common.

She was lucky he was ambitious for his people. He had sent her to Switzerland for school. She was only the second girl in her village to ever get the opportunity. The first was her sister. Her father had high hopes for his daughters. He was attempting to make them into leaders of their country woman. To give them hope and teach them Western skills. Not so much the fashion. This was still a tabu area.

" All things take time ", he would say. " It is Mohummad's will ".

She loved her father with all her heart and respected what he was trying to do. He always sheltered her from the villagers, when she got into trouble she found her Father immediately. Normally she offended people by her independant attitude. And pounding sense into the local boys was frowned upon. But they picked on her, as she was different. Her eyes were green and she was beautiful. This annoyed her slightly. She wished to be plain and univiting.

Mother nature had a destiny for her. So her Father told her. She had waited her whole life to find it and often went to meet it head on. Destiny was evasive, as she believed it: was another term for happy ever after.

Maybe this was not so.
