Happy when surrounded by his children or grand children.Has a passion for sailing. Owns a yacht called "Vigilant" which he had built himself. It was 42' in length, beam 13 feet. 8 berth. Born in Brasil. 1921. Aryton was a automotive engineer. He had worked for several car factories. But had not so much luck in employment due to wars and depressions. He had worked in America for 12 years learning english and race design. How ever he was not happy with the conditions. They treated him poorley. Even though he worked his way up from stripping down engines to assembling race engines. Discrimination was alive and well in the U. S. of A. He went back to Brazil in 1959 to witness his Mother's funeral. She had died suddenly of a stroke. Aryton stayed with his Father after that. It had been a great shock to them both. His Father died the following year of a broken heart. He inherited the families fortune. Being the only surviving Moscatelli from his line. He was a saddened individual. He felt unwelcome in America. North or South. He had heard of a new beautiful country. And wanted to start again He immigrated to New Zealand in 1960 at the age of 39. At the age of 42 he married Tracey Fanning. She had a 3 year old daughter from a previous marriage. He had finally met an independant woman. He admired her determination. He met her by answering an advert in a corner diary. She had been widowed about a year ago, and had a small baby. Tracey had advertised for a border to help her make ends meet. Aryton fell in love with her in approximately 18 seconds. As she had only just been widowed protocol demanded a set mourning period. Eventually she fell in love with him, which took a lot of persuading. After 3 years they married. The babe had blossomed into a pretty little flower girl for the occasion. Her name was Sylvia. He applied to adopt the child after they were married. It took 8 months. Aryton had always loved children, and hoped to persuade his bride to have more of them. It was a reality that he was not so young any more. After two years of bliss, they begot a male child. This was a celebration of honour. They had lived through a miscarriage earlier the prior year. Life was looking up. Finally he could plan for his business to be "Father and Son". It was 1965 when Riccardo Anthony Moscatelli was born. He was ugly. But he grew up. His son was often getting beat up by Sylvia. At a very early age Ric learnt the arts of diplomacy and self preservation. No further children followed, in 1968 Tracey died. She had developed Tuberculoisus. Aryton was a strong man. Who loved his children. His life went on. The kids never wanted for love. He never replaced Tracey. He was a tough old goat. The family business went on and developed into a engineering plant. One of the largest in New Zealand. After he sold the plant, he retired. And built a yacht. It was called the "Vigilant". Length 42', beam 13 feet. Luxurious accomodation for 8. His happiest moments now adays were when he was surrounded by his family. Sylvia and Ric often visited him, his daughter always brought her two girls. They loved the Bay of Island's and he loved their company. |
